Konnichiwa fools!

I just finished making a zine of sorts. It’s a collection of poems written by 6 of the best high school students that Japan has to offer. The writing is often grammatically goofy, and poorly spelled, but incredibly charming and honest, whether it’s a poem about hibernating bears or about trying to get into college. One of my students described the cover that I designed as “an eyesore”. I’ll let you all know when it’s available for mass consumption!

In other news, I’m going to lunch at a buffet tomorrow at the 3rd biggest mall in Japan, and am thinking of crashing a party that I was specifically not invited to after that.

Calling All Monsters
This weekend I went to SF and recorded some new songs by CALLING ALL MONSTERS, who are pretty much the best band ever. In a few weeks I’ll also be hitting the studio with CAST IRON SONGS, Nate Kavanaugh’s new project. Also, new Shinobu album in the works…? UH OH!

By the way, Calling All Monsters’ album “The Traps That Work Best” is available in the distro section of the mailorder page, so go get it! And, of course, don’t forget to buy the new Little Mercury album. Niiiiice.

Also, I think I fixed up the site setup so that anyone can comment on the blog. Let me know if it works.

Love,
Bob

Every Girl I Never Had

I just got to check out the artwork for the forthcoming LITTLE MERCURY record coming out this summer. IT’S SO TIGHT!!! So, without further ado, here’s your sneak peek:

Rip Van Winkle (Terror Dawn)

Pterrordon
Pteradon recorded last weekend in Gizilroy (that’s Gilroy for those not hip with the lingo). I, for one, took some allergy medicine and slept through most of the day. Fun…?

Phriends and Phamily

In case you haven’t heard, Dan from the Runaway 5 is in a band called GOOD HUSTLE who just released an awesome CD called “Enter the Shout Lodge”. They’re playing May 2nd at Anno Domini gallery in downtown San Jose, and the next night in Oakland.

Here’s a video of them in action, so you can get yourself a sneak preview of the niceness:

Also, Doug, who has been drumming for Shinobu, has a band called SEIZE THE NIGHT who will be performing May 2nd at the Balazo Gallery in San Francisco, and at 924 Gilman on May 16th.
Here’s a video of them:

I fully expect everyone to attend one of these! (insert angry face emoticon HERE)
