This weekend I went to SF and recorded some new songs by CALLING ALL MONSTERS, who are pretty much the best band ever. In a few weeks I’ll also be hitting the studio with CAST IRON SONGS, Nate Kavanaugh’s new project. Also, new Shinobu album in the works…? UH OH!
By the way, Calling All Monsters’ album “The Traps That Work Best” is available in the distro section of the mailorder page, so go get it! And, of course, don’t forget to buy the new Little Mercury album. Niiiiice.
Also, I think I fixed up the site setup so that anyone can comment on the blog. Let me know if it works.
So since I’ve been writing new songs, and now have a new line-up to play them with me, I figured it was time for a change. That change has come in the form of a new project name! My cronies and I will now be playing under the pseudonym “Cast Iron Songs”. We’ll be playing at Nickel City on June 20th, along with Arcade Rebellion, Monotonous K., The Last Stand, Of the Sun, and Room For A Ghost! That’s a slew of bands, and I’m not sure at the moment where we’ll be playing in the order, but details to come. Early June we’ll be recording some songs with Bob! The new era is here.
Well, well…it looks like ol’ Beef Nate is back on his feet again! Yessir, the times of not playing shows for long amounts of time are coming to a halt for this boy.
I’ll be playing the “Grand Fanali Graduation Gala” at Nickel City, Saturday May 24th. Show starts at 7pm, and it costs $5 with a $2 cover. Accompanying me on bass and drums will be my buddy Carlo and my bro Sean, respectively. Other bands playing are “Days Into Years”, and some others to be announced.
Will also be playing the upcoming 2-day Cuddle Show/None Shall Pass Premiere in July!
I just got to check out the artwork for the forthcoming LITTLE MERCURY record coming out this summer. IT’S SO TIGHT!!! So, without further ado, here’s your sneak peek:
Pteradon recorded last weekend in Gizilroy (that’s Gilroy for those not hip with the lingo). I, for one, took some allergy medicine and slept through most of the day. Fun…?
In case you haven’t heard, Dan from the Runaway 5 is in a band called GOOD HUSTLE who just released an awesome CD called “Enter the Shout Lodge”. They’re playing May 2nd at Anno Domini gallery in downtown San Jose, and the next night in Oakland.
Here’s a video of them in action, so you can get yourself a sneak preview of the niceness:
Also, Doug, who has been drumming for Shinobu, has a band called SEIZE THE NIGHT who will be performing May 2nd at the Balazo Gallery in San Francisco, and at 924 Gilman on May 16th.
Here’s a video of them:
I fully expect everyone to attend one of these! (insert angry face emoticon HERE)
